Westlake Grass Relays

The results are at theracetime.com scroll down to Grass Relays.  The varsity results are on a separate link from the JV races.  Unless they've been added, the results don't have team names included.

It was an interesting soggy mess of a course, so the times weren't what we were hoping for in most cases.  We'll get better for the important meets at the end of the season.

Pre-Region Time Trials

The pre-region meet is at Cottonwood Complex on basically the same course that we ran for the Premier Invitational.  The best parking will be north of the softball diamonds.

Because of the timing of this meet, we are training through the meet to be ready for the WSU meet on Friday.  It is difficult to recover from a race effort in only three days, so we will not be running hard in the time trials.

We will be meeting at Hillcrest at 4:00 to catch the bus to the meet. The races will be at 5:30 pm and approximately 6:15 pm.  The order will be girls then boys.

Racing Season Week 3

The summer mileage reporting period ended last week so make sure you get your mileage reported either on the google doc or turn in the mileage track sheet. Any totals 400 miles or more qualify for the mileage shirt.

With the high pressure system coming back this week, we may be looking at high temperatures and decreasing air quality.  If the air quality gets bad, we will change some of our afternoon runs to locations out of the valley to get better air to run in.

This week's schedule has been changed from what was on the August training calendar

Monday 6 am 30 minutes recovery run on the track then weight room

Premier Invitational Results

We had a pretty good day at Premier.  I thought the kids ran pretty hard, and more importantly, most of them ran pretty smart.  We had medals won in all four races and several PBs to go around.

Thanks to the Hoopers for providing the post-race snacks.

Meet results are at athletic.net. In a week or so, pictures from meets will be available as a slide show on our athletic.net team page.

Racing Season Week 2/Summer Training Week 11

This is the last week of our summer reporting period.  At the end of this week get your miles reported on the google doc Megan set up, or turn the paper recording sheet in to Coach Stucki.  Everyone with at least 400 miles gets a mileage shirt.

Since we had a meet on Saturday, we will have a post race debrief in room C230 at 2:30 right after school on Monday.  After the short meeting we will have practice as normal.

Remember we have our morning recovery run practices at 6 am each morning.  Monday and Wednesday we will do strength training after the run and Tuesday and Thursday we will do core. If you can't make morning practices, do the runs and additional exercise on your own.  It is a lot easier to do it with the team.  The locker rooms will be available each morning after practice and my classroom is for a hangout while we wait for the start of school.  The cafeteria has breakfast, or athletes can bring their own.

Monday 6 am 30 minutes recovery run on the track.  Strength training in the weight room afterwards.
2:30 post-race meeting then carpool to Cottonwood Complex for mile repeats

Tuesday 6 am 30 minutes recovery run on the track. Core exercises afterwards.
2:50  meet behind the gym above the track for the workout strides day

Wednesday 6 am 30 minutes recovery run on the track.  Strength training in the weight room afterwards.
2:50 pm meet behind the gym above the track for the workout

Thursday 6 am 30 minutes recovery run on the track. Core exercises afterwards.
2:50 pm meet behind the gym above the track for the tempo workout

Friday 6 am 30 minutes recovery run on the track.

Summer Training Week 7 HARC Week

Remember to report your miles for the previous week(s).  If you have been running the weekly average to hit the 400 threshold for the summer mileage shirt, you should have hit 200 miles last week.

Remember for HARC week, we meet at Hillcrest every day to carpool and caravan up to our higher elevation destinations.  Some of the trail heads have limited parking so we will need to take as few vehicles up as possible. We will load up and head to the mountains at 6:05.  Several of our runs this week are determined by time, so please have your wristwatch with you at practice.  It will most likely be a little chilly up in the mountains, so you may want a light jacket or long sleeve tee for before and after our morning runs. We also welcome adult drivers this week. We run some pretty fun trails this week, feel free to join us.  With the high pressure system sitting over us, air quality may get bad this week. If it does, we will have a plan B for the evening recovery runs.

Monday 6 am meet at Hillcrest for the trek to  Lamb's Canyon Trail  starting at 6:05. Thanks to the Glover family for breakfast
6 pm meet at Hillcrest for a recovery run. Thursday 6 am meet at Hillcrest for the trek to the Lower Big Water Parking Lot for our Dog Lake run starting at 6:05. Thanks to the Jensen family for breakfast. Depending on what time we get out of the canyon, we may have to pay the $3 dollar per car access fee.  We usually get out before the fee station opens.
6 pm meet at the Hillcrest track for a recovery run.

Friday 6 am meet at Hillcrest for the trek to the parking lot just past the Burch Hollow trail head for the Pipeline Trail Run starting at 6:05. Thanks to the Willis family for breakfast.
