Summer Training Week 8 HARC Week

Make sure you have new travel forms for this week with the changes for Monday and Wednesday.
Contact the captains if you need one.

This is a good week for ice baths to help with recovery. Every day is a hard run at elevation.  Make sure you eat and hydrate.

We will meet at Hillcrest Monday - Thursday at the normal 5:45 meeting time.

Monday - Millcreek Canyon - Dog Lake Run
Evening run @ Hillcrest 8:30 pm

Tuesday - Parley's Canyon - Lamb's Canyon Run

Wednesday - Big Cottonwood Canyon - repeats near Brighton ski resort
Evening Run @ Hillcrest 8:30 pm

Thursday - Little Cottonwood Canyon - Albion Basin run
Spike night @ Wasatch Running Center 7:00 pm

Friday - meet at Midvale Center TRAX station to take the 6:01 train be there a few minutes early so we have time for everyone to purchase tickets - City Creek Time Trial, Breakfast @ Mama Olsen's uniform handout, start of season talk

Summer Training Week 6

You should be emailing your mileage totals each  week to hillcrestrunning@hotmail.com.  Check the weekly mileage totals on the summer schedule for what you should have done to compare.  The most important mileage statistic is NO ZEROES! Rookies should have done about 22 - 25  miles.  Rookies do the first year mileage, or cut off one mile for the longer or more difficult runs.

Travel Forms and Summer Camp forms should have already been turned in to Coach Olsen.

Week 6

Monday - Travel Run - Top of the World meet at NE corner of 2300 E Bengal Blvd. - (do your evening runs - check your summer schedule.)

Tuesday - individual/group runs - These runs are crucial to proper recovery and performance when the racing season starts. Don't cheat yourself.  Do core.  Use the exercises Jared taught you and/or add your own.

Wednesday - team run - Trail Run We leave Hillcrest to meet at the park and ride lot at the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon to run the Little Cottonwood Trail.  Captains will organize carpools. You may meet us that the lot at 6:15 if you live close to the canyon.  If you are starting this week, make sure you have your travel forms turned in to Coach Olsen.

Thursday - individual/group run - Do Core.

Friday - Travel Run -  mile repeats split practice Varsity runners meet Coach Olsen, JV runners meet at Cottonwood Complex 42nd S 13th E meet in the south parking lot on 13th E

Saturday - individual/group runs

Sunday - off or active rest

Don't forget if you need to miss practice, follow the mileage schedule and notify the coaches in advance of your absence(s).

Monday - team run @ Hillcrest - (Evening runs continue for returning runners; start for beginners - check your summer schedule.)
