Premier Invitational Results

We had some encouraging performances this week.  A few kids had some huge PRs today which is very encouraging.  Both varsity teams finished 3rd.

I have quite a few pictures to add to the slideshow.  If you have any, please get them to me.

Premier Invitational

The bus will be leaving Hillcrest at 7:30 am Saturday.  If you are planning on coming to watch the meet, here are directions to the site in Settlement Canyon.  There is road construction on Main St. pretty much the entire length of the town, so give yourself time.  Hopefully, there won't be too many locals out and about Saturday morning. This is probably the least spectator friendly course that we will run this year, but the kids usually enjoy this meet.  I can give you ideas of where to watch the races Saturday morning.

Schedule:

Varsity Boys 10:00
Varsity Girls 10:30
JV Boys 11:00
JV Girls 11:30

Eligibility:

All athletes must be registered on registermyathlete.com before they can compete.  They need to register on the site and complete the four forms as well as have a completed physical.  If athletes have previously registered for other sports through the site, they don't have to register again, just check cross-country and complete the forms. The participation fee for the season can either be paid online or at the school. Athletes must also have had at least a 2.0 gpa 4th quarter last year, which usually isn't an issue with cross-country teams.

Photos:

I will be taking some photos at the start line and then again with less than a mile to go in the races.  If  any of you get photos at other points in the race, especially the finish line, please get them to me so I can start building slide shows of meet photos.

HARC Week

We are about to start HARC Week! This is an important week for our preparations for the upcoming season.  Every day we will be challenging the team with higher altitude runs.  Because we are heading up the canyons each day, we will be getting back to Hillcrest later than we have been.  Because each morning run will start at higher elevations than we are used to, runners will probably want a light jacket or long sleeved tee or sweat shirt before we start the runs, it will be chilly.

We will also be holding practice twice each day. We will meet at Hillcrest for all practices this week.  Morning practice will be at 6 am and evening practice will be at 6 pm.

Monday:
morning practice: Lamb's Canyon Trail.  We will carpool to the Lamb's Canyon trail head.  To get to the trail head, we will caravan up Parley's Canyon to the Lamb's Canyon exit and then head up the canyon until we get to the trail head.  For breakfast we will be meeting at Washington Terrace Park near Mt. Dell Golf Course.  The park is a short drive back down Parley's Canyon from Lamb's Canyon.

evening practice: Hillcrest.  Evening practices will be short recovery runs with some frozen treats after the run each day.  Each evening practice should be done by about 7 pm.

Tuesday:
morning practice: Silver Lake Trail We will carpool up Big Cottonwood Canyon to the Silver Lake trail head parking lot.

evening practice: Hillcrest Evening practices will be short recovery runs with some frozen treats after the run each day.  Each evening practice should be done by about 7 pm.

Wednesday:
morning practice: Albion Basin We will carpool up Little Cottonwood Canyon to Alta Ski Resort for our run.

evening practice: Hillcrest Evening practices will be short recovery runs with some frozen treats after the run each day.  Each evening practice should be done by about 7 pm.

Thursday:
morning practice: Dog Lake We will carpool up Millcreek Canyon to the Big Water Trail Head for the run to Dog Lake and back.

evening practice: Hillcrest Evening practices will be short recovery runs with some frozen treats after the run each day.  Each evening practice should be done by about 7 pm.

Friday:
morning practice Park City Rail Trail We will carpool up Parley's Canyon to the rail trail.  To get to the trail head we will be using, we will take I-80 to US - 40 and then turn east toward Promontory at exit 2.  The trail head parking lot is across the street from a Park City Fire Station.

evening practice: Hillcrest Evening practices will be short recovery runs with some frozen treats after the run each day.  Each evening practice should be done by about 7 pm.

Saturday:

Time Trial Day.  We will not have a second practice today.  We have had to change the location of the time trial due to construction at Crestwood Park.  We will carpool from Hillcrest to the capital grounds where will run our 3 mile time trial.
