Track Disclosure Statement

Fees: $60 participation fee
- There may be some entrance fees for invitational meets.
Eligibility: 2.0 GPA for
both 2nd and 3rd quarters as outlined in UHSAA guidelines
Attendance: As with any other sport, attendance at
practice is required. If you must miss
practice for any reason, notify one of the coaches before practice. You must
also notify your event coach if you will be late. Any athlete who misses
practice will not be eligible to compete in the next meet without making up the
missed workout and clearance by event coach and head coach. If you are absent
from school, let your event coach know via text or email.
Practice: Practice will be held Monday - Friday at
3:00 until approximately 4:45. Practice
times will vary by events and schedules.
All practices will be held at the Hillcrest track, weather permitting.
Meet
Participation: All athletes will
participate at region meets, provided they meet performance criteria set by
their event coaches. Coaches will determine
who participates in invitational meets.
Coaches will inform athletes who will be competing prior to each
meet. Athletes will compete in multiple
events per meet as directed by their event coach.
Transportation: Transportation will be provided for the
team by Canyons District bussing. Athletes are required to ride the bus to and
from track meets.
Uniforms: Uniform tops will be issued to varsity and
some JV athletes. Participation fees
must be paid before a uniform will be issued. Team shorts will be available for
purchase for $15 for both male and female athletes. Shirts from the spirit pack
can also be worn as a uniform in region meets.
Team Gear: A $30 team
‘spirit pack’ including a long sleeve t-shirt and backpack will be made
available for purchase. Additional optional items may also be purchased.
Parents may also buy these additional clothing items.
Shoes: In order to help prevent injuries during
training, athletes will need to obtain proper running shoes. Track spikes or other event shoes are also
encouraged for competition.
Clothing: The
weather during track can vary a great deal.
Athletes need to be prepared for all weather conditions. Athletes should be prepared with clothing
suitable for hot, cold and wet weather each day. A good supply of sunscreen is also
recommended.
Meets: Captains will lead the team in a team lap
and stretch before the meet begins. Each
athlete will be responsible for warming up before his/her individual events.
Volunteers: Parents
will be asked to volunteer as officials for our home meets to help the meet run
quickly. This could include making lane
assignments, timing, recording times, or judging an event.
Forms &
Consent: Registration is now done
online at registermyathlete.com Physical forms are downloaded from the site
and must be submitted to the office or AD before you are eligible to compete in
meets.
Lettering: Lettering will be
based on a point system from meets as well as coach’s discretion.
Fundraising: We need to raise funds to pay for things like
meet entrance fees, equipment, end of year awards and the end of season team
party. All athletes are required to
participate in the fundraising efforts. Donations are also accepted.
Internet: Meet schedules, results and announcements
will be available online at www.hillcrestrunningco.com.
Information will also be posted on social media on the Hillcrest Running Co.
Facebook group and on twitter @HillcrestTrack. The meet schedule, meet results,
school records and lettering points can also be found on athletic.net. Questions
